Case Study: Lincoln Literacy
Lincoln Literacy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people of all ages and backgrounds improve their literacy skills. Since 2022, Stingray Writing has served as a fractional marketing director, helping them build a consistent, mission-driven presence to amplify their impact and grow their community of supporters, donors, and volunteers.
The Challenge
Like many nonprofits, the Lincoln Literacy team is focused on delivering its core mission. They needed a strategic marketing partner who could take charge of their digital communications with minimal direction. The goal was to translate the incredible, life-changing work happening on the ground into compelling online content that would drive engagement and, most importantly, increase donations and support for critical fundraising events like Give to Lincoln Day.
My Role: Fractional Marketing and Communications Director
Great stories shouldn't get lost in the day-to-day shuffle. As a fractional marketing director, I stepped in to manage their communications strategy from top to bottom, telling their stories while they worked on operations.
Comprehensive Social Media Strategy
I created and managed a full content calendar across all key channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Google Business Profile. I created and published 5-6 posts each week that highlighted the journeys of their students, the dedication of their volunteers, and the overall impact of their programs.
Consistent, High-Quality Storytelling
At the heart of the strategy was authentic storytelling. This included emailed and printed newsletters, feature stories, and annual reports.
End-to-End Campaign Management
Beyond social media, I managed weekly website updates, media distributions, and event and fundraising promotions like Give to Lincoln Day and Year-End Giving.
Comprehensive SEO and Copywriting Strategy
I conceptualized and managed the creation of a new website, including copywriting, SEO and vendor oversight, and site structure.
Targeted Ad Campaigns
For key fundraising drives like Give to Lincoln Day, I ran highly efficient ad campaigns. For example, one $60 boosted reel earned over 13,000 views in just a few days, while a $75 boosted image reached more than 14,000 people and drove 2,534 link clicks, and a Give to Lincoln Day post, boosted for just $50, drove 1,943 clicks.
